Inside the Crown Plaza Hotel in San Diego, nice little bar with Sushi and dinner menus, Sushi was good and reasonably priced, drinks are reasonable, staff is attentive. We stay at this hotel at least once a year and like it so next time we are here we will probably enjoy some drinks or dinner here at least once during our trip.

My wife and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel and decided to try their sushi restaurant for the happy hour promotion. There was a lot of people here so the orders took a bit long to get to our table, our waiter did say his chef was backed up but it was good so I don't mind the wait. I ordered a Red Trolly beer to start off and a California roll along with a Philadelphia roll. The rolls themselves are small, like you'd expect from happy hour sushi, but they were good. Our waiter brought me a beer and desert on the house while we waited so I really can't be that mad.
So let's see, great sushi, long wait, if there's anything I've learned it's that good food sometimes takes a while to make. Come here and taste the fresh sushi. Legit, cool people. Great atmosphere sushi on a Sunday evening while hearing a distant waterfall. This is the spot.

Well it's not like I was looking for the best sushi on earth... it was Monday and it was the happy hour menu.... The chef had no personality whatsoever, not that that is a dealbreaker if the sushi is good enough. I ate about 2/3 of the three rolls that he served me, there was just too much damn rice... it reminded me of the cheap all you can eat places and how they try to fill you up quickly on rice, and the flavor was bland even on my dynamite hand crab roll... but since I'm staying here for a few weeks during the week for work I thought I would give the place an honest try. As much it would be great to walk downstairs and eat, I now know that it's not possible....

Had to try the Happy Hour. Was expecting an Asian dude with a big Chef hat. Instead Chef Mike came around the corner. Mike straight from San Diego. He went to Japan for 7years to cultivate and craft his sushi making experience. Truly didn't think hotel Sushi bar would taste great, and BOY we were surprised! Thankfully we had something different,a spring veggie sushi roll. Of course we got the traditional Californian, 2for 8bucks! I can say the food was delicious, great service, super clean. I will come back for another mini gettaway.

I'm not sure what crawled up Leonard's ass the day I went but he was sooooo rude to my friend & I!

I was visiting San Diego and wanted to try a Japanese place near by, and this was the closest one. We sat at the sushi part of the bar and he was just really negative. I was asking about a sauce I usually get with the California roll but I wasn't sure of the name. He didn't even give suggestions, he just told me I needed to know the exact name and be specific. There was another waiter helping bring our food out and he was the only nice one working there.
The drinks, California roll, and chicken egg rolls were good. The chicken wings had a weird texture and I didn't like them. The other reviews said Leonard was nice but because of him I will never come back here.
